TEC is proud to host a keynote by Tom Mornini, co-founder and CTO (retired ;-) of Engine Yard, the leading cloud platform (PaaS) for Ruby on Rails and PHP.
Having
lived in the cloud for seven years, before it was even called "the
cloud," Tom would like to share his thoughts on its implications for
entrepreneurs. The good news is that massive opportunity awaits. The challenge is that it's not business as usual.
Tom Mornini co-founded Engine Yard, Inc., spent 6 years as CTO and retains a board seat. Engine Yard hosts web applications in the cloud for companies like Audi, MasterCard, MTV, Estee Lauder and Butterball.
Tom became enthralled with accounting at EngineYard, but also saw the pain of reports, spreadsheets and manual data entry that finance and developers had to go through to close the books every month. There had to be a better way...which led him to co-found Boocx, Inc. - the world's first machine scale double-entry accounting engine.
Tom lives in San Francisco with his wife Elizabeth and son John. He is an Audiophile, loves Jamaican Ska music and enjoys the occasional walks on the beach. ;-)
